Aaron Blake Evans
Aaron Blake Evans is a Vancouver-based artist and archaeologist. He has been working in painting and photographic media for over twenty years. This new work is his first foray into large scale photographic work. The imagery is focused on the natural and man-made British Columbia landscape and is derived from his archaeological excursions, including such objects as oil tankers, oil drilling platforms, empty swimming pools, hydro and communication towers. Each image is approximately three by four feet, C-print on vinyl that is then mounted on either an artist-made Douglas fir frame or aluminum. Once adhered, the print is coated with a with an epoxy finish (5 mm to 1 cm in thickness) which results in a glossy, luminous effect.
