Signe Hytte & Kristina Kjær studied design at TEKO in Herning in central Jutland, Denmark. The city is known for its textile-weaving industry - an adventure that began in the late 1890s and peaked during the 1960s and 70s. Given the local history it was natural for the two young designers to seek out the knowledge and craftsmanship in the region.
The designers explain, "We got in touch with a small textile company that produces sweaters and got the opportunity to experiment with their old knitting machines. Our experiments ended with 'Rain' - a woolen series inspired by the dark and melancholic winter weather in the North. The pattern is hand drawn and tells a story about how we love to snuggle with warm blankets and cushions when the cold winds are shaking the trees outside."
Rain comes as warm blankets and soft fluffy cushions. Use them for relaxed cozy moments and enjoy how the colors and patterns serve as decorative eye-catchers. Hytte & Kjær elaborate, "We are fascinated by - and take great pride in - using the old craft traditions in new ways. Knitwear is typically seen in the fashion industry so we thought it would be interesting to take the same quality and history, and use it for a series of blankets and pillows."
Because of the great wool material, the pattern and neutral colors of 'Rain' will fit in many different contexts and have the potential to become a life-long companion.
